AMIA STEM KIDS DAY – 2023

AMIA NSW is excited to announce the AMIA STEM Kids Day Program, a fun and educational half-day workshop that will introduce your child to the exciting world of science, technology, engineering, and math. The program will be held on 18th March from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Auburn Centre for Community, Auburn.

Date: 18th March 2023 | Time : 9:30 AM – 1:00 PM | Place: Auburn Centre for Community

Our program is conducted by an external vendor, E2 Young Engineers Australia, who regularly conducts STEM programs in various NSW schools. The program is designed for children from Kindy to Year 8 and will be divided into two groups:

> Kindy to Year 2 (Simple Motorized Models)
> Year 3 to Year 8 (Make and Code Models)

Your child will have the opportunity to participate in two model sessions in their respective groups. The registration fee for the program is $35 per child, which includes light refreshments. Every participant will be awarded a certificate of participation!

•         If the child’s name is Ali studying in Year 2 in school, the payment reference would be ‘STEM ALI Y2’
•         If Aysha is studying in kindergarten, then keep the payment reference as ‘STEM AYSHA YK’
•         If paying for more than one child in a single transaction, keep the reference as STEM ALI Y2 AYSHA YK

Q: What is the AMIA STEM Workshop for Kids?

A: The AMIA STEM Program for Kids is a half-day program designed to introduce children to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in a fun and engaging way. The program is divided into two age groups and includes two model sessions per group.

A: The program is open to children (boys and girls) from Kindy to Year 8. Children will be divided into two groups based on age: Kindy to Year 2 will be working on Simple motorized models and Year 3 to Year 8 will make and code models. The complexity of the model will be decided on the child’s experience with Lego.

Q: What is the cost of the program?

A: The cost of the program is $35 per child, including light refreshments.

Q: What time should I drop off and pick up my child?

A: Parents can drop their children off at 9:30 AM and pick them up at 12:45 PM.

Q: Where is the program being held?

A: The program is being held in the main hall at Auburn Centre for Community, Macquarie Road, Auburn.

Q: Can parents stay during the program?

A: Parents who think their child will need their presence can remain in the vicinity, but they should not participate in the activity or disturb the session.

Q: What should my child bring to the program?

A: Children should wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle. All other materials will be provided by the program.

Q: Is there a certificate issued after attending the program?

A: Yes, Every child who attends will be awarded a certificate of participation to showcase their new found knowledge and skills!

Q: Do you accept NSW Creative Kids Voucher?

A: No. We do not accept NSW Creative Kids vouchers.

Q: Is there anything else I should know about the program?

A: The program is designed to be both fun and educational, with a focus on hands-on learning. Your child will have the opportunity to work with other children and develop their STEM skills. We hope your child will enjoy the program and gain a greater appreciation for STEM fields.
